A virtual consultation typically includes one or more of the following:

• Review of the patient’s chief complaint

• Discussion of symptoms, history, and concerns

• Review of existing records (photos, X-rays, CBCT scans, referral letters)

• Preliminary assessment and differential considerations

• Explanation of treatment options, timelines, risks, and benefits

• Discussion of fees, insurance coverage, and next steps

• Determination of whether an in-office visit is required

  What It Is Not

  A virtual consultation does not include:

  • A clinical examination

  • Radiographs taken in real time

  • Diagnosis that requires physical assessment

  • Delivery of treatment

  Any definitive diagnosis or treatment still requires an in-person appointment when clinically indicated.
